my Mum brought me up as a 'basic bitch', a chaff & mix kinda gal. I've learnt to pay much more attention to Lily's diet as she is naturally quite a stressy horse. Before I tried Protexin's gut balancer nothing made much of a difference. As a powdered and pretty tasteless supplement it mixes well into a feed (good for fussy eaters too). Its main job is to improve digestive health with prebiotic and probiotic digestive aids. Recommended to me by a friend of a friend, I chose to add this to Lily's feed at a time when she displayed colic symptoms. I instantly saw an improvement, particularly in her bowel movement (sorry not sorry)! I am now a devout user of this supplement as an every day addition to her feed. You can just add it to your horse(s) feed at a stressful time though, if you're moving yards or pre-event for example. I buy mine from VioVet for a number of reasons (see review below).

Come December I fill Lily's treat ball, so It's important to me that the treats are delicious AND nutritious! after our clinic with Jeanette Brakewell (my childhood heroine) at Eland Lodge, I had a sneak peak in their shop, if you haven't been then go. it's like a maze through horsey heaven. Protexin were kind enough to send us a Gut lix for Lily to try. "GIVE IT BACK MUM!" was what she said to her first taste (after she broke her trance)! The product itself smells of sweet apples and is a compression of essential vitamins and minerals, as well as prebiotics, that make for a really yummy tummy! Not only does the Gut lix encourage drinking but it also increases salivation in turn and makes for a softer and more workable mouth. Previously, 'Thirst' has been the difference between a high 30's score and a low 30's score for us. I'll definitely be packing the box with a Gut lix this season!
